Thinking inside the Box
Chapter 5 - after starting off with the “urban tools” of chapter 6 we quite quickly realized that the tools would need combining if we were to get to something we would dare to show to a client in terms of a concept proposal for a specific project. Testing the tools individually didn’t bear any real fruit. Devising a test scenario and then searching for the right tools and the right sequence covered most of our time in March and April 2024.
Our Tests
▶️ Urban Resi - a combination of several tools in sequence to simulate something we would view as an automated design concept for residential projects.
▶️ Spaceplanning - the reverse test to Urban Resi. Not starting with a site but with a list of required rooms that are to be assembled into a building and then located on a site.
