Genius Loci
Chapter 6 - We started our first round of testing in January 2024 with focusing on commercial applications that are predominantly aimed at producing fast site assessments and massing studies. With the well established players originating from the US and Australia most of the geo-data required for the German market is not available. This limiting factor aside: All of the “fully automatic”contestants have proven unsuitable to providing the level of detail that is usually expected from studies in complex urban contexts as we are commonly dealing with.
In short: The more conventional control the tool is leaving the designer the better the results. Remarkable to all of them: Every tool comes with the intention of being its own presentational environment without consideration for other parts of the story that might need to be told.
As impressive as the zooming and turning is: We reverted to good old PowerPoint to get to something we would dare to show to a client.
Our Tests
